The Statue of Mihai Eminescu – An Oatmeal of Literary Inspiration and Eternal Homage to a Genius of Words

The Statue of Mihai Eminescu in Ovidiu Square, Constanța, is a sculpture dedicated to the greatest Romanian poet, Mihai Eminescu. It is located in a central spot in Ovidiu Square and is one of the most important cultural and tourist attractions of the city. The statue was unveiled in 1887, just one year after the poet's death, to commemorate his life and exceptional literary contributions to the Romanian culture.

The sculpture was created by the sculptor Wladimir Hegel and is considered one of the most successful portraits of the poet. The statue is placed on a tall pedestal, and around it, some of Eminescu's most famous verses are inscribed.
