Carol Mosque in Constanța – A Symbol of Cultural Diversity and Spirituality

In the central square of Constanța city, known as Ovidiu Square, stands an important mosque named "Carol I Mosque." This mosque represents one of the most emblematic religious edifices in Constanța and has an interesting history.

The Carol I Mosque was built at the end of the 19th century, in 1910, during the reign of King Carol I of Romania. The building was designed by the French architect Victor Ștefănescu and represents an example of Oriental architecture with Byzantine influences.

The mosque features a beautiful inner courtyard and an impressive dome with architectural details typical of Ottoman style. Over time, the Carol I Mosque has served as a place of worship for the Muslim community in Constanța. However, currently, the mosque is no longer used as a place of worship and is open for visitors, both tourists and locals alike.
